Check Point Harmony Endpoint vs CrowdStrike Falcon

Harmony Endpoint, now officially Check Point Endpoint Security, and CrowdStrike Falcon are both single-agent endpoint platforms with EDR, XDR and a managed service. They differ in how they prevent attacks, how they are packaged and where they are managed.

In short: Harmony Endpoint vs CrowdStrike Falcon: both offer one agent with prevention, EDR, XDR and 24/7 managed services. Harmony Endpoint (Check Point Endpoint Security) bundles sandboxing, file sanitisation, ransomware file restoration and, in higher editions, encryption and patching, with cloud or on-premises management. CrowdStrike Falcon is a cloud platform sold as bundles or flexible modules.

At a glance

Both vendors take a platform approach: one agent on the device, one console, and extra capabilities switched on by licence rather than by installing more software. The comparison below uses only what each vendor publishes about its own products.

Architecture and management

CrowdStrike built Falcon as a cloud-delivered platform around a single lightweight sensor. Telemetry from the sensor feeds detection and response across the platform, and CrowdStrike positions new capabilities as modules switched on without installing another sensor or console. Management is from the cloud.

Check Point also runs a single agent, but gives you a choice of where to manage it: the cloud-based Check Point Portal (formerly the Infinity Portal), an on-premises Endpoint Security management server, or a managed service provider's multi-tenant view. That choice matters to organisations with data-handling rules or air-gapped segments. In the cloud, Harmony Endpoint sits in the same portal as Check Point's email, SASE and firewall management, and all of them draw on ThreatCloud AI.

Prevention, EDR and XDR

The biggest practical difference is what comes in the box at each level.

  • Check Point puts sandboxing (Threat Emulation), content disarm and reconstruction (Threat Extraction), browser zero-phishing and anti-ransomware with file restoration into its entry edition, Harmony Endpoint Advanced, alongside EDR with automated forensics reports. Harmony Endpoint Elite adds XDR, patching and DLP. See anti-ransomware and EDR and XDR for the detail.
  • CrowdStrike centres prevention on Falcon Prevent and detection and response on Falcon Insight XDR, with modules such as Falcon Device Control, Falcon Firewall Management, Falcon Forensics, Falcon for Mobile, identity protection, IT hygiene and threat intelligence and hunting offered across its bundles.

If you want sandboxing and file sanitisation on the endpoint as standard, Check Point includes them in every edition. If you want a broad set of cloud-delivered modules that you can mix, CrowdStrike's model is built for that.

Managed detection and response

Both vendors run their own 24/7 managed service on top of the agent.

  • Check Point MDR is Check Point's 24/7 managed detection and response service. It covers endpoints, email, network, cloud and identity, is designed to be vendor-neutral so it can take in third-party EDR, firewall and cloud tools, and includes incident response.
  • CrowdStrike Falcon Complete is CrowdStrike's MDR service. CrowdStrike describes 24/7 expert-led detection and response that correlates Falcon telemetry across endpoints, identities, cloud and SaaS, with its analysts carrying out full-cycle remediation on your behalf.

Either removes the need to staff a 24/7 security operations centre. The right one usually follows the platform you choose.

Verdict: which suits which organisation?

Choose Harmony Endpoint if you want strong prevention with sandboxing and file sanitisation included, ransomware file restoration, encryption and patching on the same agent, the option of on-premises or MSP management, or a single console with Check Point email, SASE and firewall products.

Choose CrowdStrike Falcon if you want a cloud-only platform with a wide catalogue of modules you can swap over time, already use other CrowdStrike services, or want CrowdStrike's MDR and mobile coverage under one vendor.

Both are serious platforms; a pilot on your own devices, with your own applications, is the fairest test. Forever Systems is independent and also supports Cisco Secure Endpoint and Sophos Intercept X if those fit better. Contact us to arrange a comparison.

How Forever Systems supplies and supports Check Point Harmony

We supply and support the whole Check Point Harmony suite, now marketed as Check Point Workspace Security, for UK organisations: from a single product to endpoint, email, SaaS, mobile, browser and SASE together, with Check Point MDR if you want round-the-clock cover.

  • Scoping and licensing: the right products, editions and plans for your users, devices and risk, and a clear view of what the old Harmony names now mean
  • Proof of value: trial deployments that show what Harmony finds in your own mailboxes, devices and traffic
  • Deployment: endpoint agents and policies, the Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace connection, mobile roll-out through your MDM, browser extensions and SASE access policies
  • Migration: moving from another endpoint, email or VPN product, or from Harmony Connect to Harmony SASE
  • Ongoing support: policy tuning, alert triage, upgrades and renewals, managed in the Check Point Portal

Forever Systems Ltd is an independent IT and cyber security provider. We will always recommend what fits, including other options if Harmony is not right for you.

Frequently asked questions

Is Check Point Harmony Endpoint as good as CrowdStrike?

Both are full endpoint platforms with prevention, EDR, XDR and a 24/7 managed service. They differ in approach: Check Point includes sandboxing, file sanitisation and ransomware file restoration in every edition and offers on-premises management, while CrowdStrike is a cloud platform sold in bundles and flexible modules. A pilot is the best way to judge.

What is the Check Point equivalent of Falcon Complete?

Check Point MDR. It is a 24/7 managed detection and response service covering endpoints, email, network, cloud and identity, with incident response included and integrations for third-party security tools.

Does CrowdStrike include disk encryption like Harmony Endpoint Complete?

Harmony Endpoint Complete and Elite include full disk encryption and removable media encryption managed from the endpoint console. CrowdStrike's endpoint pages focus on device control and data security rather than disk encryption, so organisations often manage BitLocker and FileVault separately. Check CrowdStrike's current modules if this matters to you.

Can Harmony Endpoint be managed on-premises?

Yes. Check Point offers cloud management through the Check Point Portal, an on-premises management server, or management by a service provider.

Which is easier to deploy, Harmony Endpoint or CrowdStrike Falcon?

Both use a single agent that can be pushed with Intune, Jamf or Configuration Manager. Our Harmony Endpoint deployment guide sets out the steps, and in practice the pilot and tuning take longer than the install for either product.
